The Badger’s Kitchen was relaunched under new ownership in April 2021 during the third COVID 19 lockdown. This fantastic opportunity has fulfilled George’s ambition of opening his own catering business.

The Badger’s Kitchen Team believes in providing the very best service and quality food for everyone visiting the Brandon Marsh Visitor Centre. We believe strongly that food should be sustainably sourced, freshly prepared and shared as part of the community.
The Badger’s Kitchen menu provides a wide choice of vegan, gluten free and allergy sensitive options so the whole family can enjoy their visit. If you need adaptations please ask the team and they will be happy to help as all food is prepared on site.

- Employ Food preparation techniques that reduce food waste and seek option to ensure waste is composted
- Using sustainable, eco-friendly packaging alternatives that encourages recycling to reduce landfill waste
- Ensure Environmental impact reduction by using cleaning products that are biologically sensitive
- Be active champions for social responsibility within the community and using local food suppliers and businesses
Meet the Team

Head Chef – George Stone
George has a wealth of experience working in the catering industry. Gaining Culinary Arts Degree from Derby University, specialising in patisserie, vegan and allergen friendly fine dining.
George has worked alongside Top Chefs such as Javier Dominguez Santos and JP Saint creating and producing some of the very best tasting menus in Scotland and developing his culinary skills at Links House (3 Rosette Restaurant in Dornoch Scotland). His favourite placement was in Sorrento learning to become a Gelato master. George is an enormous Rugby Fan, playing for South Leicester RFC and a lifelong supporter of Leicester Tigers.

Senior Barista – Mary Lapidge
Mary has worked in the catering industry for over 30 years providing restaurant management for BHS restaurants and more recently Palmers Garden Centre in Leicester. Mary loves sewing, baking and anything crafty and often makes things for her family and friends. Watching the birds, or reading a good book in her garden, with a nice cup of Earl Grey Tea and a slice of cake is her perfect way to relax.
